The drive between Bennington and Brattleboro is nice, it’s only a few hours, but lots of quaint towns. Visit Hogback Mountain, which has one of the best lookouts in all of New England. Right on US 9.
Vermont is big on dairy. Visit a cheese factory and get some aged cheddar. Ben and Jerry’s has their factory in Burlington, with an ice cream shop.
If you’re into history, two presidents were from Vermont: Coolidge of course, and Chester Arthur.
One plus of Vermont is that it is relatively small. Easr to west is less than 100 miles, and north to south is 150.
